Hello! Welcome to Self-Care Is, a blog about things that I hope help “refill your cup.” I’m Megan, a writer, educator, and entrepreneur living in South Hampton Roads, Virginia. I share my home with my husband Austin, daughter Lilly, dogs Owen and James, and lots of plants.
I’m so glad you stumbled upon what I humbly refer to my cozy lil’ corner of the internet. Right now, it is small, but I hope that in time it will grow with your help. Please, if you like anything at all about this blog, share it with someone you love. Or someone you hate–perhaps they could use a little self-care 🙂
Before we go any further, I must say:
- I am not a self-care expert, licensed psychologist, or anything of that nature. I’m also not “perfect” at self-care. I simply find immense joy in taking care of myself. It allows me to take better care of the people and creative projects that mean the most to me.
- I believe that self-care is for all. I also believe that the culture surrounding this buzz-word is often discriminatory. Therefore, I strive to write about things that are accessible to a diverse audience. If you feel otherwise or find something problematic about something I post, please reach out. I’d love to have a conversation.
I invite you to follow along as I build this blog from the ground up. I’ll write about my monthly self-care days (a #2020goal of mine), as well as post monthly round-ups of podcasts, articles, recipes, the occasional product or two, and other things that help me or people I know unwind. I’ll write about my self-care “successes,” as well as my “failures,” and I’ll invite others to do so as well.
So make yourself a cup of tea, get into some comfy clothes, and take three deep breaths. I’ll say it again–I’m so glad you’re here.
Much love!
Megan
